As the Church expands its ministry in the 21st century, one developing area is that of helping our young people achieve educational success.
The study of Scripture being central to our Faith, a program has been developed to merge Scripture study with defraying the cost of general education. In the process, the Church will produce quality ministry material for future use.
The basic idea is simple. Submit signed, meaningful, original questions and answers regarding the Bible studies put out every two weeks via your Ruho.org parish contact or the "BLOG" link on each Ruho webpage. At the end of the Bible study, 10 unique "enquirers" will be selected at random from all submissions. These will move on to Round Two, where they will be tasked to create a substantive project detailing their experience with the Bible study and its applicationa. The project can be in the form of an essay, a video project, theatrical play, etc. The more questions an individual logs regarding the Bible study, the better the chances of moving into Round Two. A committee led by our Archbishop will oversee the selection process and be the final judge of award funds. Funds will be awarded at the Family Conference 2007 and be credited directly to educational institutions. Alternatively, if the winner wishes to donate funds to a Christian non-profit institution or program, arrangements will be considered.
Two scholarships for $1000, one scholarship for $3000, and one scholarship for $5000 will be awarded. This is a total of $10,000! Accordingly, Round Two projects should be of publication quality.
All are encouraged to participate in this Bible study. At this time, only members or children of members in good standing of parishes or Christian communities recognized by, under, and in communion with the Archbishop of the Malankara Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church in North America are eligible to win awards.
At the end of this study, the Church hopes to publish the entire work, including questions and answers. This will truly be a group effort!
